Varsity Head Coach
This is Amy's sixth year as the dedicated leader of Petaluma's volleyball program. Amy comes with a breadth of knowledge having coached high school, club, junior high school volleyball. She also runs her own camps and clincs and has works with all age groups. She is dedicated to creating a strong program and culture, with the objective of raising her athletes to the next level in volleyball and in life and building a competitive team.
JV Head Coach/Varsity Assistant Coach
This is Beth's fifth season with PHS and her third year as the head JV coach and Assistant Varsity coach. Beth is insightful and brings a wealth of knowledge along with a positive attitude and coaching style. Beth played four years at James Wood High School at setter and right side. All State 2002. She played right side and middle hitter for four years at Shepherd University, Division 2. As a coach, Beth has broad experience. She coached for two years JV & Varsity: Asheville Trailblazers (part of the NCHEAC). During that time, her Varsity team won the state championship and were 4th at their national tourney.
Freshman Coach
Keira joins the Petaluma High School volleyball program as the Freshman Coach for the 2026 season. She graduated from Boise State University in May 2026 with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology before returning home to California to begin her professional career.
While living in Idaho, she spent two years coaching with Idaho ONE Volleyball Club, where she developed a passion for teaching the game and helping young athletes grow both on and off the court. In addition to coaching, she hopes to begin working with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher.
She is excited to bring her energy, leadership, and love for volleyball back to her home community and looks forward to helping develop the next generation of Trojan volleyball players.
John Pendleton
Varsity Assistant Coach
This is John's fourth year volunteering his time to help coach our varsity team. He lends an incredible amount of knowledge, passion and kindness - truly a wonderful role model to our young athletes. John has lived in Petaluma for the past 20 years working as a family physician. As an avid beach and grass volleyball player through high school and college he enjoyed the chance to play against top players in Southern California while attending UCLA. He switched to indoor volleyball in his 20’s and 30’s playing middle blocker on club volleyball teams on the east coast. John is excited for the opportunity to help our students develop their skills and create balance between academics and athletics while spending less time on their phones! He has coached youth sports in a variety of settings including PYSL and Petaluma National Little League.
Evan Thatcher
Varsity Assistant Coach
This is Evan's second year of coaching with Petaluma High School. Evan Thatcher lives in Petaluma with his wife and two children and works as a Firefighter Paramedic for the City of Berkeley. He attended UCLA where he played opposite hitter, helping the Bruins win two national championships. He continued his volleyball career after college by playing in Spain. Evan enjoys coaching youth basketball, baseball & volleyball. He brings a calm, encouraging and positive outlook to coaching, fostering a love for the sport. We couldn't be more excited to have Evan here helping us bring the newest of our players to the next level with exceptional knowledge and skill.

Its culture is built on creating a positive environment that allows players to grow as individuals, teammates and as competitive volleyball players. Its focus is on the TEAM as a unit and supersedes the needs of one toward the growth of all. No player takes precedence over the other, and ALL players serve an important role in our program.
